So, first things first let's get the film out of the camera and into a processing drum...
LOADING THE FILM
You will need:
• Black Bag
• Cassette opener
• Scissors
• Tank (with the lid, reel holder and funnel)
• An exposed film
How to load the film:
• Place all equipment in the bag.
• Open the film with the cassette opener.
• Cut the end of the film to make a straight edge.
• Find the two triangular shapes on the reel and line them up.
• Carefully slide the film onto the reel and start to rotate the reel, winding the film on.
• When the film is loaded the end must be cut off, discarding of the films reel.
• Place the reel with the loaded film onto the reel holder and put into the tank.
• Secure and twist the funnel into place and place the lid tightly onto the tank.
Processing The Film
You will need:
• Measuring cylinder
• Thermometer
• Stop clock
• Water
• Chemicals: Developer, Stop and Fix
How to Process the film:
• Measure 1:9 of developer with water ensure the water is 20℃.
• Pour the developer mix into the tank being careful not to disrupt the funnel.
• Set the stop clock to zero and start.
• Agitate the chemical continuously for the first 30 seconds.
• Then agitate every 30 seconds for ten agitations.
• Agitate continuously for the last 30 seconds.
• Develop for 4 mins and 30 seconds then pour the chemical into the sink making sure to hold tightly to the funnel and tank!
• Measure 1:9 of Stop with water at 20°C (this must be ready to pour into the tank as soon as the developer has been poured out).
• Agitate the stop continuously for 30 seconds and pour out.
• Measure 1:4 of Fix with water at 20°C
• Start the stop clock.
• Pour chemical mix into the tank and agitate for the first 30 seconds.
• Agitate every 30 seconds for ten agitations.
• Agitate continuously for the last 30 seconds.
• Pour the chemical down the sink holding onto the funnel and the tank.
• Fill the tank with water and agitate for 5, pour the water down the sink.
• Fill the tank with water and agitate for 10, pour the water down the sink.
• Fill the tank with water and agitate for 15, pour the water down the sink.
• Fill the tank with water and agitate for 20, pour the water down the sink.
• Remove the funnel and take the reel out of the tank, pull the film away carefully, it should slide off the reel.
• Using a squeegee hold tight to one end of the film and squeegee off the excess water.
• Leave hanging up to dry.
