I intend to develop a project in response to the theme “Idents”. I will begin my research by looking in depth at idents produced for major TV broadcasters, including the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, I will also have a look at the channel “Eurosport” as their idents have already begun to inspire me.
Once I have completed my research, I will gather examples and information related to my chosen theme, create experiments and designs, which help me to develop my ideas towards a final piece.
I’ve chosen to go with the theme “Idents” because I wanted to work on a moving picture project to add some variety to my portfolio. I am also interested in cinematography and so the process of planning and creating the idents will intrigue me.
The broadcasters I’ve taken inspiration from have continually updated their brand presentation – learning what works and what doesn’t along the way. This means that they will be suitable inspiration to create an interesting final piece.
For each of my chosen broadcasters, I like different elements of their idents, for example, I like the way that the BBC idents are very simple and consistent, and I really like the way the Eurosport idents use light and slow motion to create mood. These are all features which I will be looking to include in my final set of idents.
I will create Idents for the channel: ‘XSport’. I plan to combine elements from the broadcasters I intend to research to create my final set.
